Top 5 Things to do in London in May

Hurrah! The skies are blue, the spring air is fresh and the sweet sound of birdsong is filling the air. Okay I might be writing this post at my Dad’s countryside home BUT it’s official ladies and gentlemen, the sun has made her appearance.

As we relax on the last day of our first May bank holiday we are can start dreaming up plans for the month ahead. Here are five things that should be on your ‘London in May’ bucket list.

london wine week

Firstly, and most importantly, celebrate London Wine Week, the best week of the year… okay, in my opinion. From Monday 23rd – Sunday 29th, you can drink as much wine as you please and not be judged. A £10 wristband gets you discounts and deals at a huge range of places as well as a pretty cheap £5 tasting tour at a number of bars. Join a packed programme of masterclasses, pop-ups or parties across the city, or simply raise a glass (or bottle) at your local pub.

London National Pet Show

Go to the National Pet Show at ExCeL London. For just two days (Sat 7th – Sun 8th May), London will be home to all pets big and small from micro pigs to alpacas. You can get advice from pet owners or just watch many of the amazing shows – I’ve heard there will be skateboarding dogs… sign me up. You can get up to 26% off tickets at Groupon here.

London Craft Week

Another week of celebration, London Craft Week brings together the city’s creatives in its second year. From Tuesday 3rd – Saturday 7th May, famous galleries and boutique workshops will invite you to join in a range of activities from a Wedgwood demonstration at the V&A to an olfactive workshop at CHANEL.

Chelsea flower show garden colorful

Stop by the RHS Chelsea Flower Show (24th – 28th May). For over 100 years, this world-famous celebration has seen over 500 exhibitors compete for the most prized trophy. Grab tickets now and join in this year’s theme of ‘Happiness, Health and Horticulture’; turning our grey spaces green.

Kyoto Garden Holland Park

And lastly, get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine! London has so many gorgeous parks and hidden gardens to be explored, I have a huge number of them on my summer to-do list. My favourite so far has been the Kyoto Garden in Holland Park. Have a read of my blog post about the wonderful things to be found here.
