This week I received a lovely message from Life Atture, letting me know that I’d been nominated for a Liebster Award 2016.
The Liebster Award is an online recognition given to bloggers by other bloggers. It follows the same principles as a chain letter, as one person is nominated, they then nominate 11 other bloggers, helping each other to be discovered, recognised and welcomed to the blogosphere!
So here are the 11 questions asked by Life Atture…
How long have you been blogging?
Technically? On and off for the last few years. But in reality, I’ve been blogging on here ‘properly’ for a month. I wrote my first blog post over on Blogger in 2013, whilst I was in my final year of university. We were encouraged to do so to make ourselves stand out to potential employees. I discovered a love for it and so after concentrating on my studies, I created eppie.me.uk last summer, writing a few posts but never being fully committed to a schedule or theme.
Then last Christmas got a bit hectic to say the least (you can read why in my post here) and so I stopped completely. About a month ago, I finally got myself together, re-branded and relaunched my blog with a new London, lifestyle and travel theme, committing to posting 2/3 times a week (third attempt lucky right?).
It’s been an amazing few weeks seeing my social media grow, meeting fellow bloggers at networking events and finding my voice among my posts. Hopefully you’ll watch me grow over the next few months and become a regular reader!
What made you pick the topic(s) you blog about?
I’ve always been an explorer. Whether it be the secret gardens of London or the many beaches of Thailand. So it seemed natural to blog about my adventures around the world and the city I live in. I also just love sharing new recipes, lifestyle tips and generally chatting about what’s going on.
Do you prefer the snow & cold weather or warm & sunny weather?
Okay I’ve thought about this and I just can’t commit. Sorry I have an indecisive personality! Give me a hot cup of cocoa and sit me by the fire in a woolly jumper. Or just put me on a baking hot beach with a fresh cocktail and I’ll be equally as happy.
What’s you ultimate goal in life?
Wow, erm just one? Again, you’re asking an indecisive person here. The sappy ‘world peace’ side of me wants to say ‘to be happy’, but really I already am. There’s things I want to improve and learn, of course, but I love everyone and everything in my life at the moment and can only see it getting even more exciting.
Okay I’m waffling. I’d probably have to say, my ultimate goal in life to be able to sit in my armchair with my grandkids around me (wine in hand) and tell them how I have no regrets, that I tried everything I’d desperately wanted to try, I’d been to the places I just had to see, and that I’d married the man who inspires me to do those things every day of my life (yeah yeah everybody cringe).
If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be?
You’re asking a travel blogger/wanderlust sufferer the hardest question of them all! Seriously these questions are all too hard.
If I could go anywhere in the world, right this second, in my current state of mind (which is slightly tired and in need of some remote relaxation)… it would probably be Bali. I’ve been hearing too many good things about this upcoming destination and the thought of relaxing in a Bali retreat sounds like heaven right now.
What are your hobbies?
Apart from blogging and exploring (obviously), I love video editing, travel writing and art – funnily enough you can check out my pages in the top header!
I think video editing is my favourite hobby. Nothing else captures my full attention in the way that creating a personal montage does. There’s just something so rewarding about visualising an idea and then putting together footage in sync with a piece of music and adding subtle effects to create a powerful video that leaves an emotional impact.
This one might not be so ’emotional’, but it was the most entertaining to make!
What’s the last book you read?
I literally just finished reading Perfect People by Peter James, and I’m still deciding if I liked it or not. It’s about a couple who’s son dies from a horrendous genetic disease, leading them to go a slightly questionable doctor who has the ability to create an embryo without the heredity gene. Safe to say, things turn a bit odd and the story develops far further than you imagine it could go. It’s an interesting read and did have me missing my tube stop so I could finish it before I got off the train… thumbs up overall.
What couldn’t you live without?
Okay you haven’t said ‘what one thing’ so I’m going to assume I can say more than one!
Obviously the people I love – they know who they are.
Dogs. I genuinely start feeling down when I don’t have doggie time.
The feeling of excitement and motivation.
The tools that I need to do the things I love.
Which is your favorite social media: Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter?
At the moment, Twitter. I never really understood Twitter until I started to use it properly. Now I get chatting to lovely people, find out about awesome events and have become a part of a community.
What’s your favorite animal?
I have never been able to answer this question, apart from when I was like 5 years old and randomly told someone it was a tiger.
Dogs I guess. But that seems too boring to say. So I’ll go for… lions. They are just so damn sassy, I had a nice stroll with a one once.. (blog post coming soon).
Favorite movie of all time?
ARGH. I don’t know. Can I categorise?
Favourite Disney movie – Beauty and the Beast.
Favourite Pixar movie – Monsters Inc.
Favourite film series – Harry Potter.
Favourite film for someone over 15 years old – Dirty Dancing? Cliche whatever.
Did I tell you that I’m indecisive?
Okay so now you know I can’t commit to one choice answers, welcome to my blog 🙂
